Privacy
Eimyr has no servers and no accounts. We don't collect, see or sell anything you do in it. Below is every way Eimyr reaches the internet on its own, apart from the pages you open.

What stays on your Mac
Your tabs, history, notes, clips, settings and site data are kept in your user folder. Passwords you save go into your macOS Keychain, and are filled only after Touch ID.
If you turn on Sidebar sync, your sidebar and notes are written to iCloud Drive, or to another synced folder you choose, so your other Macs can read them. That copy is held by Apple or by the service you picked, under their terms; we have no access to it.
What Eimyr fetches by itself
- Ad-blocking filter lists, once a day: EasyList and EasyPrivacy from easylist.to, uBlock Origin's lists from ublockorigin.github.io, and EasyList Cookie from secure.fanboy.co.nz. These are plain downloads: those sites see your IP address, as any website does, and nothing else about you.
- Search suggestions. While you type in the address bar, what you type is sent to the search engine you chose (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo or Brave) so it can suggest searches. Turn this off in Settings › Eimyr › Search suggestions.
- Chrome's current version number, once a day, from Google's version history (versionhistory.googleapis.com). Eimyr uses it for the sites it presents itself to as Chrome, such as Slack. The request carries nothing about you.
- Pictures for notifications, from the site that sent the notification.
What Eimyr does only when you ask
- Extensions you add from the Chrome Web Store are downloaded from Google.
- Bitwarden, if you sign in to it, is reached at Bitwarden's servers or at your own, to unlock and fill your logins.
- Live folders from GitHub are filled from GitHub's API, with the token you gave Eimyr on this Mac.
- Live clips and Notify Me load the pages you picked, now and then, to see what changed.
On your Mac only
Translation and the judgements behind Notify Me and agents' safety checks use Apple's on-device frameworks. They run on your Mac; macOS may download language models from Apple to do so.
AI agents
Agents such as Claude Code or Codex can drive Eimyr only after you allow them, and only in tabs of their own. What they read on a page goes to the AI service they use, under that service's terms. Eimyr keeps a log of what each agent did, on your Mac.
No analytics
Eimyr has no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting of its own. If you share analytics with Apple in System Settings, macOS may send Apple a report when Eimyr crashes.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its fonts and scripts are served from here, not from other companies. The server it's hosted on may keep ordinary access logs (IP address, time and page).
Changes
This page describes the current version of Eimyr. If a version changes what Eimyr sends, this page changes with it, and the date above.
